An official spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Mohammad-Ali Hosseini stated that the Iranian administration does not think that the USA is ready to get into a new disaster, which will inevitably lead to lamentable consequences for the whole world, not just for Iran alone.
Hosseini was rather sarcastic in his comments about Washington’s views of Teheran increasing its arms shipments to Iraqi guerrillas. “If we count all of such statements, the amount of weapons would be gigantic and enormous,” he said.
Ali Hosseini released the above-mentioned statements in response to recent remarks from US admiral Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who said that Iran had been reinforcing its support of Iraqi terrorists.
The admiral said that the US administration had come to such a conclusion after US servicemen in Iraq had found a batch of arms on recently seized ammunition depots of Iraqi terrorists. Mullen particularly stated that the finding had revealed that Teheran had been increasing its arms shipments to Iraq.
Mullen also said that the USA, if necessary, could use military forces against Teheran. The admiral added that the USA possesses the required capacity for such a reaction in spite of the fact that the third conflict in the region is highly undesirable for the nation.
