It was still too early for investigators to know what caused the small plane to nosedive Monday evening in a Wheeling industrial park, about a mile from its planned landing at Palwaukee Municipal Airport, said John Brannen, an investigator for the National Transportation Safety Board.
Sybaris Clubs International Inc. owner Kenneth Knudson, 61, was on the plane and died in the crash, the company said Tuesday. A spokeswoman said the other victims were not employees of Sybaris, which provides romantic getaways for married couples.
The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed four people were killed in the crash but was not releasing the victims' identities Tuesday, reports AP.
