English Premiership strugglers West Brom are understood to have approached former Newcastle manager Sir Bobby Robson as they seek a replacement for Gary Megson.
West Brom parted company with Megson yesterday after he said he planned to leave The Hawthorns at the end of the season when his &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/main/18/89/358/11330_oil.html ' target=_blank>contract expired.
Former England manager Robson, 71, is available after being sacked by Newcastle United and replaced by Graeme Souness, Fox Sports reported.
According to the BBC Sports, Megson, who was dismissed on Tuesday after telling chairman Jeremy Peace he would leave the club in June 2005, said he was still being paid by Albion.
"I cannot look for work. I am told I am on gardening leave. Let the lawyers sort everything out," Megson said.
"I am not available for any job. I'm getting paid by the club and it's for the legal people to sort out."
Megson said he did not want to exit the Hawthorns immediately, despite informing the chairman of his intention to move on.
"I'm surprised but I'm more disappointed than anything else, I wanted to stay at West Brom to see my contract through," he said.
Megson said his decision to leave - next summer, as he had intended - was made for the good of the club as his notorious boardroom wrangles detracted from events on the pitch.
He explained: "I've felt for quite a few months now that all the time what was happening with my contract and my future was starting to get away from us and the real issues, the results, were always taking a back seat to my personal situation and I felt it was time to come out and say what I felt."
But he was keen to play down talk of an unhappy relationship with chairman Peace.
"I'm sure in any relationship a manager and chairman have differences.
