According to the South Korean Yonhap news agency in Pyongyang, at a briefing for the journalists accompanying the Seoul delegation were informed that the negotiations participants were currently coordinating the terms of completing the work to connect railways on the Korean peninsular, construction of the South Korean techno-park in the city of Kaesong in the south of North Korea and joint flood prevention measures.

Details of South Korea's delivering big lots of fertilizers to North Korea were discussed separately.

Misunderstanding at the negotiations began as early as on May 20th, at the opening of the current fifth meeting of the South-North Economic Cooperation Committee. North Korea was extremely dissatisfied with the results of the recent US-South Korean meeting at the highest level. Pyongyang expressed concern about Washington's threat voiced at the summit to "consider additional measures" in case the tension around the North Korean nuclear programme could not be resolved peacefully.

North Korea understood that by "additional measures" the USA had meant military force. At the negotiations in Pyongyang the North Korean delegation warned that in case Seoul chose a confrontation way it would encounter "big problems". The negotiations nearly failed, as instead of discussing economic issues the delegates began to sort out their relations.

North Korea demands that inter-Korean relations should be built independently of the US desire. The Seoul government, on its part, finds it necessary to coordinate its policy with Washington supposing that this will enable South Korea to persuade the USA not to turn North Korea in the "second Iraq" and prevent a war on the Korean peninsular.
