Alanya have opened in the UNESCO Paris headquarters. The opening ceremony on Monday was attended by President of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alanya Alexander Dzasokhov and Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation Koichiro Matsuura.

We highly praise the tireless efforts being taken by the Republic of North Ossetia-Alanya for implementing the ideals of peace, good, justice and a broad cultural cooperation - these ideals of UNESCO. We hail its successes on this path, said Koichiro Matsuura. The days of North Ossetia in UNESCO, according to him, will make it possible to get acquainted with the rich history of this Russian republic, its cultural diversity and unique nature.

The UNESCO Director General also visited a large photo exhibition depicting the history, the ethnic groups living in North Ossetia and its cultural development.
