It seems that Russian officials have finally learned to see the difference between erotica and pornography. A draft law “Restricting the Distribution of Erotic and Pornographic Products” gives the previously non-existent [in Russia] legal definition of pornography and limits the circulation of pornographic products. The document defines pornography as a detailed naturalistic image, a verbal description or a demonstration of a sexual intercourse and genitals with a view to arouse sexual excitement of a human being

On Saturday representatives of sexual minorities carried out the first ever gay parade in Moscow. For several hours in the centre of the capital thousands of soldiers from the internal forces, officers of the Special Police, Orthodox Christians, Cossacks, young hooligans and punks formed a mob, shouted and cursed the homosexuals. Several dozen men roared "Down with lesbians!!" at Les-Bi representative Evgeniya Debryanskaya.

In view of such a unanimous condemnation of the gay parade in Russia's capital, Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov and city authorities will certainly ban it.The organizers of the parade apparently count on the domestic and overseas backing. So far they have shown no intention of canceling the plans. They are going to launch another public campaign in April when Brokeback Mountain will be released in Russia’s cinemas
