Today it is widely known what's good for your heart is also good for your brain. This statement was made by some nutrition and brain scientists about a month ago. However the most exciting thing about healthy food is that it can be found on a holiday table. Here is the rating of food that has the most positive influence on our brain.

The healthiest food for brain is cranberry. Studies in animals suggest that cranberries are particularly neuro-protective, good at protecting against chronic age-related afflictions like loss of coordination and memory. They protect brain cells from the free-radical damage that normally occurs over time, thereby preserving cognitive and motor functions.

Then comes Blueberry. Wild blueberries are also filled with antioxidants that attack smarts-sapping free radicals. Studies of rats show that a blueberry-rich diet improves memory and motor skills and reverses age-related declines in balance and coordination.

Dark Leafy Greens take the third place. Vegetables like chard and kale break down homocysteines, enzymes that in high levels are linked to cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease.

Fatty Fish is the fourth. Fish like salmon, sardines and herring are packed with Omega-3 fatty acids, and research has shown that people who eat these fish at least once a week are less likely to get Alzheimer's disease. Spinach takes the fifth line in the rating. Research has shown that spinach slows down age-related problems in the central nervous system and cognitive deficits, reports Psychology Today. I.L.
