At least one mystery of the film version of The Da Vinci Code is about to be cracked: Tom Hanks is in negotiations with Columbia Pictures to play Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon. Ron Howard is directing, with Brian Grazer producing.
The screen adaptation of the Dan Brown bestseller involves a mystery that goes deep inside the Catholic church after the curator of the Louvre is gruesomely murdered, leaving cryptic clues about his killers, reports Film Stew.
According to Ireland Online, in Brown's book, Langdon is the man who cracks the mystery of the renowned Holy Grail.
The film is expected to begin shooting next year.
Meanwhile, Hanks' animated Christmas tale The Polar Express set a $2.1m (Ј1.1m) record for the biggest opening at Imax cinemas in the US.
The film, which was shown on the giant screens of 59 Imax cinemas, beat the previous records of movies including &to=http://english.pravda.ru/society/2003/03/15/44451.html' target=_blank>Harry Potter and the &to=http://english.pravda.ru/science/19/95/381/d?count=35' target=_blank>Matrix sequels.
The film, which is said to have cost $270m (Ј189.3m) to make, was directed by Forrest Gump's Robert Zemeckis with Hanks as an executive producer.
But The Polar Express failed to make a dent in the fortunes of the Pixar/Disney adventure The Incredibles which has remained at the top of the box office chart, informs BBC.
