Moscow authorities have recently banned yet another gay parade that was slated to take place on May 1 and 2.

“In the nearest future we will notify the Moscow government of holding the marches of sexual minorities five times a day until the end of May,” Alekseyev told Interfax Wednesday.

To put it in a nutshell, the committee of the Moscow gay pride parade is ready to launch a whole month of gay marches across the capital of Russia.

“Five notifications, which we are submitting to the government of Moscow for each day in May, touch upon the marches on different streets in the city center,” Alekseyev said.

Alekseyev added that he was going to continue the court struggle against the Moscow authorities, which banned gay pride parades in 2007 and 2008.

“We want to show it to the European justice that homosexuals are not allowed to freely express their opinions in Moscow - in any day in any form, in any street and in any time,” the activist said.

Sergei Tsoi, an official spokesman for the Moscow government, said earlier Wednesday that the city authorities were not going to allow unapproved public actions of sexual minorities on May 1 and 2.

“On behalf of the mayor and the government of Moscow I herewith declare that the government of the city will act decisively, as it did during the previous years, to cease the attempts of holding these public events, because the society in it’s absolute majority does not accept this kind of manifestations, the gay lifestyle and their philosoly,” Tsoi said Wednesday.

The official added that the authorities protect sexual minorities against possible attacks. “Certain religious and other organizations said that they would use physical violence against homosexuals if the latter were going on a parade in Moscow. No one needs any bloodshed,” Sergei Tsoi emphasized.
