CKE Restaurants signs deal to open 25 restaurants in Pakistan

CKE Restaurants Inc. plans to open 25 restaurants during the upcoming five years in Pakistan. CKE, parent company of St. Louis-based Hardee's Food Systems Inc., said Tuesday it signed contracts with Lahore, Pakistan’s MDS Foods. The contract stipulates the opening of 15 Hardee’s in Lahore during the next five years. In addition, the contract was signed with Karachi, Pakistan’s Global Food Connection, to open ten restaurants during the next four years.

The company has not unveiled financial details of the deal.

CKE Restaurants, Inc. is the parent company of the Carl's Jr., Hardee's, Green Burrito, and Red Burrito restaurant chains. Its headquarters are in Carpinteria, California. It was incorporated in 1964 by Carl's Jr. founder Carl Karcher as Carl Karcher Enterprises, Inc.

In 2007, it sold La Salsa fresh mex restaurants. From 1996 to 1999, the company also owned the Rally's drive-up hamburger chain, and it owned Taco Bueno from 1996 until 2001. The company acquired Hardee's in 1997.

The current CEO is Andrew Puzder, who received his juris doctorate in 1978 from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis and is a member of California, Nevada and Missouri bar associations, and has served as CKE CEO since September 2000.
