The car was among several that the company, along with its affiliate Kia Motors Corp., brought to the Frankfurt auto show, which features numerous concept and production cars that tout hybrid power.

Besides the i-Blue, Hyundai, the world's sixth largest in terms of sales, also showed off its i30 Crossover Wagon.

"The i30 hatchback and i30CW are designed to win European customers in the semi mid-size vehicle market," Hyundai said in a statement.

Kia, in which Hyundai holds more than 38 percent, displayed its new two-door Kee sport coupe and its three-door "pro-cee'd" hatchback.

The latter is aimed at European buyers, with the company saying it should be released at the end of this year or in early 2008.
