Russia Business Day will be held at the Harbin Economic and Trade Fair on Thursday. The opening ceremony is to be attended by a delegation of Russia's economic development ministry, as well as Wu Yi, vice premier of the Chinese Council of State, and Bo Xilai, Minister of Commerce.
The agenda of Russia Business Day includes seminars and roundtables on the development of regional cooperation, banking and financial interaction, cooperation in science, technology (including high technologies) and the timber industry.
The sides will also discuss investment projects in China and Russia's Far East.
The Harbin fair in the administrative center of the northeastern province of Heilungjiang, which borders on Russia, opened on Tuesday evening. It is one of the biggest and most attended international fairs held in China.
The press service of the Heilungjiang administration had reported that one of the key issues at the fair this year would be the discussion of possible involvement of Chinese and foreign businessmen in "the revival and reconstruction of the old industrial bases" in northeastern China.
A substantial number of major industrial enterprises in the region were built in the 1950-1960s with the assistance of the Soviet Union.
Another distinguishing feature of the fair will be the spotlight on the development of cooperation with Russia.
A forum of Russia-China regional cooperation and development and a forum of bilateral technological interaction were held at the fair on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Russian regions and major industrial and trade companies are widely represented at the fair, which will last until June 19.
