Two Georgian servicemen were wounded as a result, the internal affairs department of the Georgian district of Shida Kartli told RIA Novosti.

However, the wounded servicemen cannot be taken away from the conflict area because the byroad is blocked by the South Ossetian armed units.

The clash between the Georgian peacekeepers and South Ossetian armed units occurred on the road near Georgian villages in the Big Liakhvskoye Gorge, Rustavi-2 TV company (Georgia) reported.

Moreover, four bursts from automatic weapons were heard in the village of Eredvi of the Tskhinvali region (Georgian official name of South Ossetia), Rustavi-2 said.

Commander of the Russian peacekeepers Svyatoslav Nabzdorov decided to deploy peacekeeping units in this area.

President of the self-proclaimed republic of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity is ready to release Georgian peacekeepers detained by South Ossetian armed units in the Georgian village of Vanati if their mothers and other relatives arrive in Tskhinvali.

According to Rustavi-2, he announced this on Thursday at an extraordinary session of the South Ossetian security council in Tskhinvali.
